In the commercial "Hero's Journey" starring Melissa McCarthy, it begins with Melissa driving the Niro down a snowy, curvy road when she gets a call that the whales need saving. This trend of driving in the 2017 Kia Niro and getting calls to save a new issue, such as the ice caps melting and deforestation, continues. Every time the Niro gets her to where she needs to be to participate. Kia brings comedy and thrill into the commercial by showing Melissa falling from a tree, a whale splashing her out of her boat, or a rhino chasing her.
