Kia Motors Named Official Vehicle Provider of "One Lap of America" 2018

May 1 it was announced that Kia Motors of America (KMA) will be the official vehicle provider of this year's "One Lap of America" race, which is set to start this Saturday, May 5 in South Bend, Indiana and travels 3,716 miles across 12 states before returning to South Bend on Saturday, May 12. The all-new Kia Stinger and the 2019 Kia Sorento will be transporting race officials throughout the circuit from South Bend, to New Orleans, Dallas, Denver and back to South Bend.

Kia vice president of Marketing Communications had this to say about the big announcement:
"We're thrilled and honored to be the Official Vehicle provider of the One Lap America race. Stinger's combination of performance and head-turning style make it one of the most desirable sports sedans in America, and the newly refreshed 2019 Sorento offers elegant design, utility and a serene cabin all within the ideal mid-sized SUV package. Both are perfectly matched to represent Kia in the 35th running of One Lap of America."
One Lap of America is racing into it's 35th year, originally known as the "Cannonball Sea-to-Shining
Sea Memorial Trophy Dash" which was created by Brock Yates in the 70's. The race was popularized
by the movie "Cannonball Run" starring Burt Reynolds. It was renamed One Lap of America in 1985, but it still challenges the drivers involved just as much as it did on day one. Making its participants endure long transit drives of sometimes more than 700 miles per day.

The Kia vehicles will be utilized to transport not only race officials, but race organizer Brock Yates, Jr. as well for the duration of the race. The full race schedule and more information on the event can be found at www.onelapofamerica.com. Here at Van Griffith Kia we're really excited to see how the race turns out, and we'll be zipping around in Kia Stingers and Sorento's of our own! Come by and take one for a test drive, we look forward to doing business with you!
